Our current thoughts: I'm not sure why everyone is giving Valve so much flak over the graphics right now. If they game is set to be released on the 7th of November, they've still got 5 months to polish it up. I wouldn't worry about that. I also wouldn't worry about it being a glorified update either.
I wouldn't get so caught up on what the game looks like, considering it's not coming out for a little while. Valve places a lot of emphasis on aesthetics as they pertain to playtesters. The original L4D looked different, particularly the player models (which I thought were cooler), but they tested and found that they needed to tweak the art direction in order to enhance the fun factor. Valve is a company that puts in a lot of polish, even after their games are released.
I'd say, if you like the first one, and you like how the new features sound, it's safe to get excited for L4D2. Valve will make everything else fall into place and look good to boot, because that's what they always do. And there's still plenty of time to add that extra layer of polish to pretty everything up That said, since the Ai director can change the actual layout of the map??? That is awesome! thats a clever concept that was missed in the first.
I think its going to be great if not better then the first. Left 4 dead is one if the first games to have such a unique style of gameplay where its different everytime. Good job valve, you never dissapoint!
